What's the story here?
Basically, the Panther is trying to solve the murder of his girlfriend's sister, which puts him up against a conspiracy involving the Klan. That is, until Wind Eagle shows up, allowing Panther to be captured and tortured until... he escapes and Jungle Action is canceled. Huh? Poor Wind Eagle. A terrible costume, a seemingly random story, and the victim of changing creators and shifts of product line.
As a young collector, I randomly got this issue of Jungle Action and was both confused and intrigued. It became one of the "holy grails" for me to complete the run, which was a lot of trouble in those days and required a lot of hunting through convention halls. And yet, even when I *did* complete the run, the story *still* made no sense. McGregor had to continue the storyline later in Marvel Fanfare, a fact that I never knew until the internet's infant days. Amazing what we take for granted, now, huh?
