I visited my friends' church today since it was their "youth sunday" and he helps out with the student worship band. It doesn't have as late of a service as Jesus Lifehouse, which has something like 5 services on the weekend now, so it allowed us to visit Omote-sando and neighboring Yoyogi afterwards.
The big thing? A GIANT Thai Festival. How giant? Check out this picture:
Rachael was already there with her friends from Japaneats.tv, who were there to blog about it all. Also already there? Thousands of people. I think this is one of the first festivals of the "season," as it were, and that plus the awesome weather at the moment (well, and plus awesome Thai food) caused quite a sensation. We had some spicy spring rolls, pad thai, some other kind of skewered meat, and papaya ice cream.
On the way back through Shibuya, one whole part of the street was closed off for some kind of folk dancing, too. Truly some random encounter. Guess it's matsuri (festival) season in full swing!
